Andrew Warren waives death penalty on Michael Keetley after review of Hillsborough County Public Defender’s mitigation letter
On June 5, 2017 this blogger made inquiry to the Hillsborough County’s State Attorney’s office (SAO) about why the office was seeking death on Michael Keetley’s case. The SAO responded that the case was still under review. On February 4, 2019, the Tampa Bay Times reported that the SAO made a decision to waive death on Keetley’s case. Court records show that attorneys from the Hillsborough County Public Defender’s Office, Julianne Holt and Jennifer Spradley, authored a mitigation letter which was submitted to the SAO on September 24, 2018. Holt and Spradley used to the mitigation evidence gathered by attorney Lyann Goudie and mitigation specialist Donna Murray to write the letter. Thereafter, the SAO made a decision to waive the death penalty. Outstanding work by these women.
