Key West Judge Tegan Slaton Falls Asleep and Hallucinates During Hearing

by Haydee Oropesa

Jaablog author and Broward attorney Bill Gelin reported yesterday about Key West Judge Tegan Slaton falling asleep during a hearing. Judge Slaton told KeysInfoNet that he was taking the medication Ambien to treat insomnia.  Judge Slaton also told KeysInfoNet that after about 5 to 10 minutes into the hearing, that dealt with a child relocation issue, he began to lose it and hallucinate.  Judge Slaton described the hallucinations as, “Fantasia and the dancing brooms,” from a Disney film.

Congrats to my blog buddy Bill Gelin in being awarded the Best Gadfly Award!

  1. Ambien is highly addictive and often misused. Although I do not have issues with sleeping and have no need for Ambien or other sleeping aids, I do know that hallucinations may take place immediately after dosing. I assume dosing should take place before bedtime and in the privacy of your own home.
